Shortcomings and Future Development of the Rotational Plastic Storage Tank Industry

2018/5/28

In recent years, China's rotational molding industry has been continuously developing, but there are still problems. Due to the increasing popularity of plastic storage tanks, the problems in the rotational molding industry of plastic storage tanks should be highlighted, and the future development trend of the rotational molding industry should be clarified based on the relevant issues. Below, we will provide a detailed explanation of the specific issues and development directions.

  What is rotational molding?

Rotational molding, also known as rotational molding, rotary molding, rotary molding, etc., is commonly referred to as Rotational Molding in English. There are various methods for processing and molding plastics. In addition to common processes such as injection molding, blow molding, and extrusion molding, rotational molding (roll molding) is also an important processing method for plastic products or steel plastic composite products. Especially in the field of hollow molding, roll molding has outstanding advantages.

  1. Problems in the domestic rotational plastic storage tank industry
  (1) Rolling molding production enterprises have a small number of equipment, a small production scale, and a low degree of intensification of upstream and downstream products.
  (2) Insufficient research and development capabilities, lack of core technologies including process technology, equipment and mold manufacturing technology, engineering design capabilities, and product application development technology.
  (3) The category is not refined enough, the added value is low, and the market competitiveness is poor.
  (4) Lack of reliable and high-quality domestic raw materials, with most still relying on imports.

The rolling molding process is to first add plastic raw materials in the form of powder into the mold, and then continuously rotate the mold (three-dimensional motion) and heat it. At this time, the plastic raw materials in the mold are gradually melted and evenly coated on the entire surface of the mold cavity under the action of gravity and heat energy, and then the cooled plastic products or steel plastic composite products are called rolling molded products.

  2. The development trend and direction of the domestic rotational plastic storage tank industry
  (1) The continuous expansion of the scale of rotational molding production enterprises.
  (2) By adjusting the product structure of rotational molding products, the variety of rotational molding products is increasing day by day, and the technological content of rotational molding products is constantly improving. Rotational molding products will develop towards high performance and high added value.
  (3) Intensify research on relevant processes, equipment, and molds to form one's own core technology.
  (4) Strengthen the development of specialized materials for rotational molding in China and establish a raw material research and development center to change the current situation where plastic raw materials mainly rely on imports.

At present, the rotational molding industry is developing rapidly abroad, while in China, due to various factors, the development speed of the rotational molding processing industry is lower than other plastic molding processing industries. Recently, with people's increasing understanding of the advantages of rotational molding, the rotational molding industry in China has shown an accelerating trend of development.

  3. Rolling plastic storage tank process
  (1) Rotational plastic storage tanks are formed using rotational molding technology.
  (2) The material of the PE plastic storage tanks produced by the company is specialized for rotational molding - linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) or linear medium density polyethylene (LMDPE). PE plastic storage tanks can hold inorganic acids, alkalis, salts, and many organic substances at room temperature.
  (3) The minimum softening point of the plastic used in the rotational plastic storage tank is 108 ℃, and the maximum fragmentation point is -70 ℃, so it can generally be used to hold liquids with temperatures ranging from -40 ℃ to 60 ℃. If the liquid content is heavy or the temperature is above 60 ℃, a steel lined plastic anti-corrosion storage tank should be used to prevent softening and deformation of the tank. If PE plastic storage tanks are used for chemical reactions or dilution, corresponding tests should be conducted in advance to determine the maximum temperature of the reaction or dilution.

In recent years, with the hot development of various environmental protection projects, the demand for various types of storage tanks has increased significantly, and the mixed quality of the rotational plastic storage tank market has been criticized by the industry. The rolling plastic PE storage tank we produce has an irreplaceable advantage among similar products. In the current situation where various small and large enterprises are rising up one after another and competition is becoming increasingly fierce and cruel, where does his confidence come from?

Due to the limitations of people's cognitive level and market regulation, their ability to evaluate the price of rotational plastic storage tanks is still weak, which leads to many customers buying at high prices or being deterred by the price. Therefore, it is important to prepare before purchasing. Although it is a new phenomenon, the rotational plastic storage tank, with its superior performance and reasonable price, will surely occupy the future market and become the new favorite of the rotational plastic storage tank industry.
